Journey to Brazil August 17-29th 2026

August 17th-29th, 2026
We have a few spaces left! We hope you can join us! Please email info@brasilinmotion.com for more information.
Brasil in Motion invites you to join us on our next Journey to Bahia, Brazil! This trip is designed for those who would like to go deeper into their studies of Afro-Brazilian history, dance and music by journeying to the heart of Afro-Brazilian culture in Brazil. As we experience Salvador including its delicious cuisine, welcoming people, and streets pulsating with Bahian rhythms, we’ll have the unique chance to study with master teachers in Afro-Brazilian dance and music. Our trip will also include an excursion to Cachoeira, a city rich in Afro-Brazilian history and traditions and to Chapada Diamantina, an historic national park where we will enjoy nature’s embrace.

The dance and music classes in Salvador are suitable for those who are in the beginning or intermediate/advanced stages of studying Afro-Brazilian dance. Our physical activity will be moderately demanding, but there will be down time as well for reflection, journal-writing, hammock time, swimming in Bahia’s waters, and exploring the historical district of Pelourinho on your own.
If you’d like to learn more, we’d love to connect with you!

Daniel Nery dos Santos and Aileen Panke, co-owners and directors of Brasil In Motion, have led groups to Bahia since 2010. Daniel is a native of Salvador and truly delights in sharing the culture of Bahia, his home for 31 years before moving to the U.S. in 2008. Daniel and Aileen offer a unique insider view to their trips due to Daniel’s deep connection with the local community there. Brasil in Motions trips are designed to support the local economy through collaboration with small, family-owned BIPOC businesses. Bahia’s arms are ready to welcome you and we look forward to being your hosts!
Who We Work With
Our Cultural Immersion tours to Bahia, Brazil support local, family-owned businesses in addition to individual artists and professionals who provide master dance and music classes, cuisine, transportation, and historical guide services. Our Cultural Immersion Journeys stimulate the local economy by supporting small businesses and therefore help to fight the effects of disparity and discrimination.
