Welcome to the world of hula! This is a hula-based movement class for every age and every gender. We move as a class to the music of Hawai’i, connecting to the joy of hula, creating community, and finding new connections within our own bodies. We move through foot patterns and simple choreographics to evoke nature, a mood, a place, or a memory.
Teanini’s wish is for every student to discover their inner dancer. Teanini dances when she is sad, happy and everything in between. She creates her choreographies based on whatever is happening in her world: Political events, social justice concerns, even pandemic weight gain (btw, it’s very sensual!). Teanini’s mother began teaching her hula at age three, and she has recently resumed the study of hula.
